Fulfill Your Mandate
The Bible is clear in its teaching that service is central to God’s purpose for every Christian. Experience Serving…Short Term is about you, me, and us, as Tysons Campus, fulfilling a scriptural mandate of service. Start your service by visiting our ministry booths in the lobby after any service on January 29-30, or visit mbctysons.org/experienceserving.
Scripture demonstrates how Jesus devoted himself to serving others and tells us that we are expected to emulate him by doing likewise. Here are just three of the many ways in which you will be taking written words from the pages of the Book and making them come alive:
1. You will fulfill your God-given purpose in life.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10, NIV)
2. You will be trained to do what God has directed you to do in ministry.
“…equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:12, NLT)
3. You will be an answer to Jesus’ directive of prayer, that he would launch workers into the ministry, thus, making you a co-operative with him in his work.
“The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” (Matthew 9:37,38, NLT)
Jesus was emphatic that the greatest – and, the second greatest – commandment calls us to love and, in serving, we are fulfilling scriptures by loving God and others in practical ways.
As certain as the sun rises and the sun sets, the Experience Serving…Short Term initiative is about each one of us intentionally carrying out God’s directives in scripture! Seriously, how do you feel about that? Take a walk and talk to God about how amazing it is that he has chosen you to be the channel and catalyst of bringing his Word to pass in the lives of hundreds of people.
